Meet Our Horses

Colicchio AKA “Chef”

Colicchio is a 16 year old Holsteiner gelding and former Grand Prix Show Jumper. Colicchio is definitely the Alpha horse in our barn, and loves to boss the other horses around.

But don't be fooled by his pushy demeanor, he's  really a big teddy bear and loves to get head scratches. He likes to make you think he's unavailable, but then will follow you around like a puppy when he wants attention.

A bit of a lazy daisy, Colicchio likes to spend most of his days trail riding,  or hanging in the turnout with his buddy Balou.

And he's always hungry!

Chasing Colicchio Aka “Chase”

The boss's son, Chase is Colicchio's only child, and loves to goof off at work.  Only 5 years old, he is a bit of a trouble maker, and manages to break, chew, or completely destroy....well pretty much anything!

Like any toddler, he's ridiculously cute and terribly annoying. Because he's so"new" he's not currently being used in our round pen coaching sessions. However we do visit with him by his stall and groom him when we want to explore other avenues in our sessions

And just like his father, he is always  hungry!

Balou AKA “Lalabalouza”

Balou is a 6 year old Warmblood we imported from Germany in 2019, and is currently training to be a show jumper.

Unlike his nemesis Chase, who he vehemently dislikes, Balou is always a perfect gentleman, never pushy or grabbing at your clothes. He is extremely sensitive and loves to cuddle and play with his human friends.

Balou is equal parts style and substance and he makes a great coaching facilitator.  He is an old and gentle soul, and he will surely win you over in minutes!

Cagney AKA “Cags”

The most mature one of the group, Cagney is a big hearted 23 year old Danish Warmblood, retired from his Show Jumping Career, and happens to be my favorite.

He was the first horse to teach me to jump, as well as be mindful of my energy, position, and attitude in the saddle. He is also very sensitive and can be a bit co-dependent at times, which I of course love!

He has a super horse crush on Balou, and acts like a 2 year old whenever we have them turned out together.

Cags loves his trail rides, and never gets tired of all the hugs and kisses I bombard him with on a daily basis.

“At one point Renee asked me ‘how do you feel right now,’ and I looked at her and the horse and responded, ‘loved and held…by you and the horse.’ And I did. Renee held me in her attention with awareness, thoughtfulness and guided me with questions that enabled me to explore and arrive at a new place. She let me meander into and out of places that also enabled me to call myself out on my own bs…

..It was an incredible experience of bonding with another magnificent being. We ran through a gamut of emotions, and literally walked forward, horse in hand, one guiding question and guided step at a time.”
